Sunset Half Cut Crease | Make Up Tutorial

Here is my first Youtube video in ages ! I've really missed Youtube. I created this sunset half cut crease , half cut creases are sooo popular at the moment , they're easy to do once you get the hang of it and flattering on most eye shapes !

These colours are especially lovely since where in the Autumn months . If I was doing a half cut crease with any other colours I would still use the same steps as I did in this video . I find that the Inglot gel liner is the best for cutting the crease . Nail brushes I got in Dealz come in really handy to for liner & carving out the crease because there nice & small  . Also I think the Rebeluna lashes in the style 'Izzy' are my new favourite lashes .

Also top tip for half cut crease : Make sure you carve out the crease a bit above you actually crease so once your eyes are open you can still see the cut crease .

5 Face Products I Use Daily | Inglot

I have been working as a make up artist for Inglot for a few months now and get people asking me what my favourite Inglot products are .Its pretty hard for me to narrow it down but I have typed up 5 face products I use daily on myself & why I like them . I will write more blog posts on brushes ,foundations & other products in the future . 

In makeovers I choose products that will suit the client so these products our products I use on my own face .

In no particular order (feel like an Xfactor judge writing that lol) 

SPF 20 Face Primer 

I use this everyday .  It has SPF 20 in it which makes it perfect for everyday protection (even in Ireland our skin needs SPF) . The SPF is in the primer which means it wouldn't cause flashback in photography (that only happens if the SPF is in your foundation). I have dry skin so its moisturizes my skin , makes foundation glide easily on top & also acts as a barrier between the foundation & my skin so the foundation doesn't seep into any dry areas . 

AMC 84 Highlighting Powder 

This is only recently become a favourite of mine but its definitely high up there on my list ! I have dry skin so basically what I do is apply this all over my face with a powder brush after is have applied my foundation and it gives my skin a healthy , fresh dewy appearance . 

153 Highlighter

So buttery and easy to apply . Lovely highly pigmented peach toned highlight . The 4SS brush is the perfect size to apply it with & I usually apply it down the center of my nose , tops of my cheekbones , cupids bow & my inner tear ducts .

69 Illuminator

My skin is more on the drier side and because of that I've always loved the look of having glowy skin & always have been a big fan of illuminators . I love all the shades the illuminator comes in but 69 would have to be my favourite just because its a nice champagne shade that give warmth and glow to my skin before foundation . This can be used on oily skin as well because it gives the skin a glow but drys matte so it would add extra moisture to the skin . 

95 Undereye Concealer

 

The undereye concealers are specifically made for the delicate skin around the eye area . The undereye concealer also has a plumping agent in it which plumps out any fine lines under the eyes & it also has an illuminator running through it to give the appearance of brighter more awake eyes . Monday morning essential ! I also use this to carve out brows , prime my eyelid & sometimes even to cut out my crease .

Life Update | Where I've Been

My poor blog has been neglected this last while .I haven't forgot about it ! Since turning 21 in March a lot has changed for me .

On my 21st birthday I found out that I got a job working for a well known make up company called Inglot which I was absolutely delighted about  . Not to mention we had work placement for 4 weeks before the store even opened . I was on work placement in Dublin where they trained me and the other girls up on the products & artistry skills . I really enjoined my time in Dublin & learned loads .

I moved to County Westmeath for the job too so I now live in a shared house about a 4 hour drive from where i'm originally from. I am so glad I took the job opportunity as I absolutely love what I do & the people I work with  .

I got into make up cause I loved art in school but for a few years I felt like my creativity wasn't as good but I feel like I'm starting to get more creative again .

I have been trying to find my grounds with everything the last few months but I am starting to settle in and find my feet again . Missing having a proper gym & blog routine.

Brown Cut Crease & Arabic Inspired Liner | Video Tutorial

Hey everyone ! Sorry I haven't been uploading as much recently ,currently moving away from home & got a new job (might do a video or blog post explaining) so once I get back into a routine I'll be uploading consistently again .

Todays video tutorial is an in-depth longer video just focusing on how I created this brown cut crease . Cut creases sometimes can be a little harsh / borderline drag queen if you use loads of colour and glitter etc but this cut crease with browns in my opinion is quite wearable .

Cut Creases are very daunting to do but if you have time to spend on your make up you should definitely give it a go . Wouldn't recommend trying if your in a rush though !

St Patricks Day | Make Up Tutorial

Considering I'm Irish , I kind of had to do a tutorial for St. Patricks day as it is such a big day in
Ireland . Whether you're going to the pub for ' a few casuals' (which lets be honest, never goes to plan) or planning on partying the night away this look is perfect . Its in theme with the day but not over the top .

Lip wise I just wore some lipliner (Penneys Nude Lipliner) & ligloss (Benefit Lipgloss in Hervana ) .

A tip for applying the glitter would be to do it before your foundation just so its easier to remove fall out . If you don't like the look of the orange on the bottom lash line you could use green and it would look just as nice . If your feeling super festive you could draw some shamrocks on your face as well .

Bargain Beauty Buy | PS Individual Lashes

Well you could say this weeks bargain beauty buy post is very last minute this week as its half ten on a Sunday night . I wrote this one out in my notebook but just never got a chance to sit down and type it up , until now .

These lashes are one of my all time favourite beauty products . They are just so handy . Usually individual eyelashes can be a little time consuming but these lashes make applying individuals a little easier & faster.

Instead of being just one strand of hair there is little clusters of eyelashes together . This also means you wouldn't use up the whole pack trying to get the desired look (like you might have to with other individual eyelashes).

What I like about them is they can be built up to quite a dramatic lash or you can do a nice subtle lash. The hairs look natural too , because I know some cheaper eyelashes can look fake & plastic looking .

I prefer them over any of my other individual eyelashes and all my friends are big fans of them too. If Penneys ever said that they were discontinuing them I would be in like lighting buying them in bulk (which I already do , but I mean buy the whole shop out of them hahah ) .

They retail at €1.50/£1 in Penneys/Primark all over the country .

5 Commonly Asked Make Up Questions | Answered

1 . Do you need to use face primer ? (general questions about face primer)

Face primer makes a huge different to the finish and longevity of you foundation . Just like building a house your need to prime the walls first to have a good strong base . Moisturiser works well as a primer too because it acts as a barrier between the foundation and your skin while also moisturising your skin helping the foundation apply smoothly .

You can get water based & silicon based primers . If your foundation is water based make sure your using a water based primer . Likewise for silicon , if your foundation is silicon based use a silicon base primer. They will just be more compatible & work well together this way .

Silicon based primer smooths out wrinkles , reduce the appearance of pores & is amazing at keeping foundation on all day/night . Water based is more gentle on the skin & more suitable for everyday wear .

2 .What order should you do your make up in ? Eyes or foundation first ?

I would do eyes first mainly . This just makes it easier to remove any eyeshadow fallout before applying your face primer & foundation . If your doing a natural eye you could get away with applying your face primer & foundation first. Just up to you and what your think works better for you.

3. How to remove/get rid of wrinkles with make up ?

Sadly , you cant . You just have to use products to make your skin more youthful looking & minimize the appearance of wrinkles but nothing will make them completely disappear .

4. Concealer or Foundation first ?

Personal preference . If I was going out on a night out I would apply foundation first then concealer . Just because I know I would be applying foundation anyway then if there is areas I want to conceal more (under eye and blemishes ) I would apply concealer  . For daytime makeup though I would apply concealer first just too see what can be covered with the concealer , if I am happy with what the concealer is covering I can leave out the foundation .

5 . How to choose the right foundation for your skin ?

You need to figure out what kind of look you want from your foundation (dewy, matte , silk ?) , what kind of skin tone you are (warm , cool ,neutral ?) , skin type (oily, dry ,combination?) & what kind of coverage you want (light , medium or full ?) .

No Make Up Make Up | Video Tutorial

Ages ago I did a blogpost on the 'No make up make up ' look . Its a perfect look if you don't want to look like your make up but want to look fresh faced & ready for the day ahead . Video is differently my favourite way of learning so I decided to put together a video tutorial with an updated 'No Make up Make Up Video ' .

Cream products have a more skin like finish & work best . As you can see in this video I used a peachy pink cream blush on my cheeks & lips and a cream highlighter . They blend in seamlessly and cant be seen sitting above the skin .

First off on the eyes I applied Mac Paint Pot to remove any discolouration (veins , redness etc ) . To brighten the eye area & to make my eyes look more awake , I applied a white eyeliner in my waterline, centre of my eyelids & under my eyebrows . I then also applied mascara and lightly applied a thin line of dark brown eyeliner to give the illusion of slightly thicker lashes .

I made sure there was zero make up on my skin by using a cleanser and a cotton pad . I then applied the moisturiser & the beauty elixir mist which really helped revive my skin .

Bargain Beauty Buy | Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer

Another Bargain Beauty Buy blogpost . Today it about one of my all time favourite concealers that's an absolute steal. Its the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer from Boots . I use the colour 'Fair Shade 1' which is nice & light in colour so it acts as an under eye highlight/concealer . It was very popular beauty blogger product a few years ago but since hasn't been as popular with so many other concealers coming out . But its one that will always have a place in my kit .

                                                    

Its full coverage & long lasting . It can crease very slightly if you over apply it under your eye area due to the slightly thick consistency . That's only a minor flaw that just requires applying a thinner layer under your eye area instead of applying a thick layer . The product retails at €5.79 in Boots Store nationwide and comes in 4 shades (the shade in the pictures above is 'Cool Medium Shade 2' )  .

Great at covering dark undereye circles & spots (if I was applying it on a spot I would apply the product to the back of my hand then get another brush to apply it with , otherwise you are contaminating the wand that's with it & spreading germs (aka giving yourself more spots) . Its very similar to the Urban Decay naked concealer but not as lightweight as that one , but for the price you couldn't beat it ! The pigmentation is amazing in this product and its guaranteed to sort out those Monday morning undereye circles . A little goes a long way too so the tube lasts me quite some time .

Purple Smokey Eye With Pink Glitter | Video Tutorial

This video tutorial took agesssssssssss to upload , countryside wifi for you ! To be completely honest I am such a creature of habit that I always go with brown & gold smokey eye on myself for a night out . If I was wearing a black dress or something really simple I would dress it up with a more dramatic make up look like this one .

Its a spotlight eye so I blend out the eyeshadow in the inner & outer part of my eyelid , leaving the centre free of eyeshadow . I then apply the pink glitter to the centre of my eyelid . You can use glitter glue or eyelash glue for this .

Glitter can be messy to work with so I would recommend doing your eyes first just so you can remove any fall out before applying your foundation .

Bargain Beauty Buy | PS Strobe Cream

I have decided to start a new series on my blog . If you love beauty products & a bargain (who doesn't) I will be writing about my latest finds that our under €15 (most of them will be under €10) each week  . So when pay day comes & you feel like treating yourself look no further !

Irish model & Make up Artist Tara O'Farrell mentioned last week that she loved the Penneys Strobe cream on her snapchat  . I picked it up when I was in Penneys a few days ago & have been wearing it everyday since .

When I bought it I thought it was going to be similar to the Nars Illuminator in 'Orgasm' which is an illuminating base that has a rosy tint to it because on the packaging it says 'Rose Face & Body Highlighting' .After using it I would say its more like mac strobe cream because it has more of a cool undone , not rosy . Which I also love , just not what I thought I was buying .

Saying that I love this product & cant wait to use it in the summer time  ! I think it might be even more glowly then Mac Strobe Cream .

When I say you need very little , I mean it ! I apply a little to my hand & mix it with a little moisturiser before I apply foundation to my face . It makes a perfect dewy base .  

It retails at €4 which is a reasonable price considering It will last you ages !

If your in Penneys/Primark definitely pick one up , very very similar to Mac Strobe Cream .

Indepth Winged Eyeliner Video Tutorial

One of the most daunting make up tricks , winged eyeliner . If you know me you will know that I am a big fan of winged eyeliner & probably should have wings permanently tattooed on my eyes at this stage . So you could say I've had a lot of practice . I hate to say it but the old saying 'practice makes perfect' applies here . Here's some tips to help you along the way to hopefully make it a little less daunting .

The first thing you need to decide on is what product you want to use & find easiest to use.

Gel Eyeliner - Great for professional make up artist for hygiene & how black and pigmented it is . Very unforgiving for new beginners . If you make a mistake it can be very hard to remove .

Favourite Gel Eyeliner : Inglot AMC Eyeliner - 77

Liquid Eyeliner - My favourite of them all . As I said in the video for the reasons being you can get a fluid , sharp & defined wing . Its more forgiving then gel & I get use out of the whole tub . Good for covering fake eyelash bands. Its not the easiest way to apply winged eyeliner , but it looks well .

Favourite Liquid Liner : Essence Essence Dip Eyeliner

Felt Tip Eyeliner - Very similar to liquid eyeliner . Not great for make up artists as its not hygienic but perfect for your own make up bag . Not as pigmented as Gel . You have a lot of control over eyeliner but the felt of the eyeliner really matters , if it has a thick felt you'll end up with thick eyeliner . Good for beginners .

Favourite Felt Tip Eyeliner : Collection Extreme 24 Hour Felt Tip Liner

Pencil Eyeliner - Not great for winged eyeliner , the pencils usually too thick and would make it very difficult to do winged eyeliner with .

Black Eyeshadow (with a damp brush)  - I personally think this is the best for beginners . Really easy removed (but does last all day/night) if you make a mistake . Most people have black eyeshadow(make sure its pigmented)  so you dont have to go out & buy a new product .

Favourite Black Eyeshadow : Really just any black eyeshadow that has good pigmentation .


Step 1 -
You want the angle to elongate & slightly lift your eye without being too arched . Make sure you are opening your eye while doing it because if you have your eyes are closed it is going to look completely different when you open your eye . I aim in the direction of the bottom of my eyebrow . Its up to you how thick of thing you like your eyeliner .

Step 2 -
After I create the wing I then go on to do the inner part of my eyelid . Using a small brush & the black (or whatever colour you want) I start doing little small brush strokes in the inner corner of the eyelid .

Step 3 -
I then fill in the centre part of the eyeliner , joining the outer wing to the inner part of the eyeliner .

Top Tips
- Steady your elbow on a table to avoid shakiness & balance your baby finger on your cheek to steady your hand .
- Concealer under the wing to sharping it .
- Use sellotape if you are finding the wing really difficult . Just make sure both wings are at the same angle .
- Have a firm enough grip on the brush your using just so you have more control  .

Make Up Muse | Ve Neill

Todays Make up Muse blog post is on three time Oscar winning make up artist Ve Neill . Ve Neill was born in California in 1951 as Mary Flores . Her next-door neighbour growing up was a Make Up Artist . He used to create amazing Halloween looks & she always said to him that she wanted to do what he does when she got older .

In the early 70s it was a very male dominated industry & Ve Neill was one of the first woman to join the Union & paved the way for other woman . She actually studied Fashion Merchandising in College & at 18 owned her own vintage clothes shop . She learned how to do make up by a man she met at a science fiction convention . She then began to work on some small independent films before getting into the union for make up artists .

She has won Oscars for the make up in Beetlejuice , Mrs. Doubtfire & Ed Wood but she has been nominated for eight Oscars , which makes her the female make up artist with the most Academy Awards/Nominations .

The other make up artists I have written about so far are Fashion/Editorial/Beauty Make up Artists . Ve Neill is a able to create both Beauty & Special Effects Make up but specialises in extreme fantasy looks . She is also a judge on the TV show Face Off , where make up artists compete for $100,000.

She has created some of the most iconic looks in television & film that are recreated year in and year out at Halloween . She worked along director Tim Burton & Actor Johnny Depp quite frequently . Other successful movies she has worked on are 'The Hunger Games' , 'Austin Powers' , 'Hook' , 'The Amazing Spider Man 2 ' , 'X Men :Days Of Future Past ' along with many many more .

This woman is a huge inspiration of mine , she is just an absolute genius & the things she has achieved as a female make up artist in the film industry really inspire me and a lot of other make up artists.

I feel like Make up is a lot different now then when Ve begun her career  , now social media plays a big role in the career of a Make up Artist where as when she begun , her talent, personality & work ethic is what got her to where she is today .

How I Fill In My Eyebrows

All about brows in todays post . The product I am recently loving is as cheap as chips ! I've used Morphe , Anastasia Beverly Hills(which I also love) , Smashbox , Benefit , Sleek ... just to name a few & this little gem is the cheapest out of the lot & my favourite .

I love the Anastasia Dipbrow Pomades , there more expensive though and they have to be ordered online (I ordered mine off CultBeauty.co.uk)  . The eyebrow product I used in this video is from the brand MUA , Superdrug are stockist of the brand and it retails at £4 ! Yep £4 ! Very comparable to the Anastasia Dipbrow . It also has a little brush on top so its really handy for traveling or keeping in your handbag .

Being realistic I don't crave out my eyebrows every single day , I mean ... who has time for that ? But I do if I have the time & when I'm not rushing .

I tend to keep to my natural eyebrow shape , as I said in the video I like my right eyebrow and don't like my left one. I think everyone's the same though there is always one eyebrow you like more then the other . Always keep in mind 'eyebrows are sisters not twins' .

Okay so hate's a strong word haha , maybe the title should be 'Make up products I dislike ' instead .

Some of these products are expensive to buy , some people might like them but this is just my honest opinion . Before I buy makeup I usually read lots of reviews so I'm not wasting my money on a terrible product , but these products (except LA Girl Pro Conceal & Smashbox Primer Water) where impulse buys . Dramatic Glitter Winged Eyeliner

Well I think everyone knows at this stage that I am kind of a fan of winged eyeliner haha . I thought I would go a little more dramatic on the wing & apply some glitter . I bought nail art brushes from Poundland & they are so handy (and cheap) for detailed looks. If there is any fall out of glitter you can always tidy it up with a wipe , this is why I like applying foundation etc after the eyes . I must write a blog post on the eyebrow product I currently use because I absolutely love it ! This look  would look lovely with a sleeked back ballerina bun .

Cranberry & Rose Gold | Eye Make Up Tutorial

This weeks make up look is on this eye look that I wore in last weeks SOSU contour palette tutorial . Its a way to incorporate colour into your make up without being over the top . Cranberry & burgundy tones are especially nice on green eyes as they are the opposite on the colour wheel & really make the eyes pop.

Its a half cut crease look so there is a defined cut at the inner part of the eyelid then the outer part of the eyelid is more blended .

Gym Playlist | My Top Ten Tracks

I always find I do a better workout when I have good motivating music to listen too . Since a lot of people are getting into fitness this Janaury I thought it was the perfect time to share some of my all time favourite music tracks to listen to in the gym . Please keep in mind I listen to a lot of rap/R'n'B .

1. Can't Be Touched  - Roy Jones 
Roy Jones was also a world champion boxer & used this song as his entrance song. Its been out for years but I find it the best for getting into workout mode .

I don't think I will ever find a song as uplifting & motivating then this ! If I could this gym playlist would probably be 80% Eminem .

This ones definitely a lot less .... ghetto haha . Sia's voice is just something else & the lyrics are perfect when your struggling with that last rep .

SOSU Contour Palette | Review & Tutorial

I got this palette as a Christmas gift from my Aunt but I was actually going to go out & buy it because the week before I received it as a gift we got it in work & I loved using it on clients .

The creams are really creamy & easy to blend , which is very important when it comes to cream contouring because previously I've had cream contour products that set in place straight away , leaving me with zero time to blend them out . The two powders in the palette aren't overly pigment so you don't have to worry about ruining your make up by applying too much , instead you can gradually build on the colour . The shades are perfect for Irish skin tones & there is nothing too dark . There is also a shimmery cream highlighter which I love using under powder highlights just to make them super intense .

Simple Brown Smokey Eye | Video Make Up Tutorial

First Post of 2017 ,  Woooo ! Hope you all had a lovely Christmas & New Year . I for one am kind of happy that everything's back to normal . Don't think I could look at another box of chocolates or a glass of wine at this stage .

I recorded this the morning after New Years Eve so please excuse the messy hair & not so fresh face haha . This look is quite simple to create you just need patience and some good blending brushes . It would go with basically any outfit or lip colour . I did a lot of blending underneath my eyes also , but if that's not your thing or if you have smaller eyes , you can apply less under your eyes .
