Make Up Forever HD Foundation - Review

Why did I ever stray from this foundation is the question I'm asking myself? I bought make up forever HD foundation a few years ago at Imats London . I loved make up at the time but I don't think I fully appreciated this foundation . After trying and testing so many foundations from high end to low end , this foundation comes out as one of my favourites .

Two disappointments lately where the Smashbox and Chanel foundation that I splurged out on that didn't quite have the quality that I thought there hefty price tag deserved . This foundation although expensive is worth every single Penney .

Longevity
This foundation lasts so well . I will apply it early in the morning and it will still be perfect till night time . Even if I go to the gym with this on it will still be half decent on my face when I am finished  . Most other foundations end up disappearing .

Consistency
I would say its the perfect balance between thick and liquidy . Its the perfect in-between balance of Mac studio fix to Chanel aqua foundation .

Finish
The finish it leaves on the skin is matte . Its so seamless and really looks airbrushed . Its made for HD television so its made to last well under lights , cameras and be undetectable on the skin .

Coverage
Its a light to medium coverage foundation but could be worked with to create a full coverage . With two pumps you will achieve a nice natural complexion and just build it up for the look you desire .

Colour Range
Make up forever have such a good colour range with 26 different skin tones ranging from pale to dark .

Price And Where You Can Purchase It
Price wise its on the expensive side , but unlike some expensive foundations I can honestly say its worth every penny . You can buy it on the Make Up Forever website or in a Make Up Forever shop . I bought mine on Guru Make up Emporium  for £29 .

The brand has and Ultra HD foundation out as well now that I would love to try . Anyone in the market for a flawless in real life and on camera foundation , this is it . An old reliable .

Smashbox Studio Skin Foundation - First Impression

Today I am doing a first impressions blog post on Smashbox studio skin foundation .This is my second 'first impression' blog post on foundation on my blog(click here to view first foundation first impression)  . My first one is the most viewed blogpost on my blog . Basically what I do is buy a new foundation , try it out for a day and write what I think about the foundation , pretty straight forward .

I never heard much about this foundation which was why I was interested to try it out . Hoping that for the money , it would be worth it . This foundation claims to do it all , its supposed to control oil , last 15 hours and hydrate the skin . Smashbox is a great high quality make up brand that apparently test all there products out infront of hd cameras and lights to make sure there make up brand products are picture perfect . Which this one actually is . It came off lovely in the photos I took. I don't understand how though because it was terrible in real life . Even my mother commented on how bad my foundation was looking .

The texture of this foundation is really strange , it almost feels like a gel and is kind of tacky on the skin .Maybe thats there way of keeping it on the skin .It has a slightly thick texture. I have normal/dry skin more on the dry side recently . I applied it using a stippling brush on completely bare skin to test the foundations true longevity without a primer .The weird thing about this foundation is that it says its hydrating ? I don't think so . Its made parts of my skin look like the Sahara desert . The foundation has a medium to full coverage and a Satin Matte finish . It lasted pretty well throughout the day covering my red cheeks but it did start to get a little patchy near the end of the day . It stayed matte all day no need for any powder. It comes in a glass 30ml bottle with a pump .It has no spf so no camera flash back .

Over all I wasn't too impressed with this foundation , for the price (£29) I don't think it was up to the standard . I wasn't impressed with the finish of the foundation it just did nothing for my skin.  It is just my first impression though so we shall see , I'll probably have a full review on it on mention it again in a future blog post .

Mac Studio Fix Fluid Foundation - Review

I have been using Mac Studio Fix Fluid for a while now and thought it was about time I did a review on it . Its a really popular foundation here in Ireland , mainly for the fact that Irish girls love heavy coverage foundation to hide our rosy cheeks .

This foundation comes in a 30ml glass bottle with no pump . You have to buy the pump separately which is annoying but it saves pouring too much out and it going to waste .

There is spf 15 in it which is pretty standard , not too much so there isn't any harsh flash back . The coverage of this foundation is definitely full . It has a matte finish but I always set it with a translucent setting powder to keep it in place . Use a light hand when applying because it is easy to go overboard and look like you could chisel off your make up . The smell is something a lot of people hate about this foundation , it doesn't really bother me that much . The smell is kind of like paint .

I wouldn't wear this foundation on and everyday basis because my skin would not be able to handle it but for a night out it's a staple .Nc20, Nc25 and Nc35 are my most used shades in my kit and match fake tan really well .They have a huge range of skin tone colours .  I have never had a problem with this foundation coming off what so ever . My favourite way to apply it is with a stippling brush or a beauty blender for a more natural look . I find myself using a lot of product because of the thick consistency not blending out much .

This foundation retails at £22 and the pump costs £4.50. A cheaper alternative is the Maybelline Superstay 24hour Foundation (£8.99) , which may I say might even have better staying power .

I am wearing this foundation in the pictures shown . I have setting powder on , highlighter above my cheekbones , tip of my nose ,cupid's bow , a little blusher on and some bronzer . Also if you look on my Instagram (alannahharriganmua) this foundation is what is used on most of my make up looks .

Is there any foundations you would like me to try out or review ?

Thanks for reading and I hope you all have a lovely week .

Loreal True Match Foundation - First Impression

New foundation , YAY ! Decided to try out LOREAL Paris true match foundation after hearing Lauren Curtis rave about it for years . I had the worst foundation on today , I squeezed the last of a few of my foundations out mixed them together and used it on my face . To be honest I would have been better off wearing no foundation because through out the day the foundation started to get really patchy. I went into boots and one of the girls working there removed all my make up and apply this foundation . Surprisingly this foundation is a lighter coverage then I thought it would be , very buildable but far more natural then I thought . I am the lightest colour, I am really pale at the moment , ghost life . I really like the look of this foundation so far its gives a nice even flawless looking coverage , its a lot more matte then foundations I would usually wear but its not too matte where your skin look dull . I have some dry skin around my nose that the foundation set on top of but that can be sorted out with some exfoliator . So far so good , I see how it gets on throughtout the day .

Just Applied Pictures

*I applied primer beforehand and have blush on

10 hours later

To be honest this foundation isn't as long wearing as I thought but I did have a very light layer of it on . It as stuck to the dry patches of my skin but I hope with a bit of exfoliation and moisturiser the next time I wear it it doesn't do this . Coverage stayed very even though throughout the day still heading my rosy cheeks at the end of the day .

Final Verdict : Usually don't go for a more matte finish foundation but I like the coverage , finish and the natural look of this foundation . Doesn't last as long as I was hoping although I did  only apply one layer of it , if you were to build it up it might stay on longer . It will be interesting to try it some night I go out to see how it last . I will probably have a review on it in the coming weeks with extra details but so far it seems quite good  ,not amazing but not a total disaster .

Light/Medium Coverage Foundations

My favourite kind of foundation for everyday wear is a breathable light/medium coverage foundation  . Something that gives a nice healthy glow. Todays post is three short reviews on affordable foundations that fit in this category. This blog post is also kind of my favourite everyday foundation / empties blog post .

These foundations are great on teenage girls who want to wear a little bit of make up to school but nothing over the top , mature skin , normal/dry skin or people with freckles that still want the freckles to be seen . Theses wouldn't be the best foundation choice for acne prone/problematic skin , girls who like full coverage or oily skined girls .

Boujois Healthy Mix Serum Gel Foundation

So many people rave about this foundation including Pixiwoo and Lisa Eldridge . Its light coverage but buildable and dewy . Its comes in a glass bottle with a pump . Its one of those foundations that goes undetected on your skin and does last all day . The best way I found to apply it was with a stippling brush for even coverage . I recommend using a moisturiser or primer underneath for a flawless finish . Great for dry/normal skin girls or if your skins dehydrated . Most long lasting out of the three foundations .I would buy this foundation again , the only bad thing I have to say about it is that its takes a lot of product to get a medium coverage and once finished with the foundation I feel like there is still so much left inside . There is only six shades in the range sadly .  The foundation is made from vitamin-rich fruit therapy formula with litchi, goji berries and pomegranates.
£10.99

No7 Stay Perfect Superlight Foundation

I never heard about this foundation but before I went on holidays last summer I decided to go into boots to buy a foundation for my holidays that had spf and that wouldn't melt off in the sun . I asked one of the ladies at the No7 counter who was obvisibly biased to the no7 range which foundation did she recommend and she choose this one . I liked the runny consistency because it reminded me of Chanel Aqua Lumiere that I have never tried but have swatched on my hand before so I thought it might be a good dupe ( if I ever try Chanel vita lumiere I will do a comparasion blog post of the two ) . I tan in the sun so I got it a shade darker then what I usually wear . This is a really natural foundation that feels like you have nothing on your skin. It did get slightly oily looking on a night out on holidays but that happens to the best of foundations just bring some powder in your bag .Not the most buildable of foundations , you would have to use a lot of product to get a medium coverage. I applied it with my fingers and found that worked best . I think this foundation is best for a summer holiday or a natural photo-shoot rather then the windy weather of Ireland .
14 shades in the range . £14.50

The Body Shop Moisture Foundation Spf 15

My favourite out of the three it just has the most beautiful finish. It makes your skin look you have a healthy glow but not greasy in any way . My mother also wears this too and its great for mature because it doesn't make the fine lines and wrinkles more obvious which some thicker foundations can and makes the skin look more youthful . Easier to build up to a medium to full coverage to then the others . Great packaging because you have zero waste of product and a pump that pumps out a nice amount . Has a nice consistency not to thick or to runny .Lasts all day on the skin but if you were going out in the evening after a long day of wearing it you would probably need to touch up .This really is an unsung hero . 7 shades in this range . I ran out of an everyday foundation so  this will definitely be repurchased . £13

All this foundations are 30ml bottles . None of the foundations have caused any breakouts or reactions on my skin .

Hope you all enjoyed this blog post . If you have any questions feel free to comment below .
